North Sails announces inaugural North Sails Cup to take place alongside the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup

North Sails, the world’s leading sailmaker and ocean lifestyle brand, has today announced the first details of the inaugural North Sails Cup, a new regatta for Maxi Class 1, Maxi GP, J-Class, 12 Metre and Superyachts, set to take place in Naples, Italy, in 2027.

Held alongside the 38th America’s Cup, the North Sails Cup will take place at one of the most anticipated moments in the global sailing calendar. Organised by Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia (CRVI) under the authority of the Italian Sailing Federation, with the support of America’s Cup Event (ACE), Yacht Club Italiano, Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the regatta will be centred around the superyacht marina in Bagnoli and feature two dedicated racing series – Maxi Class 1 and Maxi GP (28 June – 2 July 2027) and Superyachts, J-Class and 12 Metre yachts (5 – 9 July 2027; the 12 Metre from 4 July).

The event will also feature a curated programme of hospitality, music, culture and art. The programme is designed to give owners, guests and the wider sailing community a more immersive experience beyond the racing.

The first edition will bring together sailing’s most iconic yacht classes, with the inclusion of J-Class and 12 Metre yachts paying tribute to the America’s Cup’s rich history and the yachts that helped shape its legacy. Owners and crews will have the rare opportunity to race on the same waters as the world’s best sailors as they compete for the oldest international sporting trophy, while becoming part of the wider celebration that surrounds sailing’s greatest competition.

Peter Dubens, Managing Partner and Founder of Oakley Capital, said: “I have always been inspired by the America’s Cup. Beyond the racing, it is an extraordinary celebration of innovation, determination and incredible individuals who have shaped our sport. With the North Sails Cup, we wanted to create an event that gives owners the opportunity to become part of that experience. By bringing together some of the world’s most iconic yachts during the 38th America’s Cup in Naples, the North Sails Cup offers a new way to celebrate the event’s heritage while immersing guests in the unique atmosphere that makes it unlike anything else in sailing.”

Sam Watson, Chief Executive Officer of North Technology Group, added: “North Sails has always been driven by a passion for performance and a deep connection to the global sailing community. The North Sails Cup marks an exciting new chapter, bringing together some of sailing’s most iconic yacht classes at one of the most significant moments for the sport. Through the North Sails Cup, we look forward to welcoming owners, crews and guests to Naples for a curated programme of racing and hospitality that encapsulates the spirit of the 38th America’s Cup and the community that surrounds it.”
